The U.S. strike on Venezuela was a complex cooperation among all types of military actors. That strike can violate international law. But nobody cries for Maduro. The problem is that this kind of action can escalate to other countries. And then those kinds of actions can cause the spread of nuclear weapons. The nuclear weapon is a tool that provides a good shield and raises other nations' tolerance. This is the reason why many dictators want nuclear weapons in their arsenal. We can say that if Maduro had nuclear weapons, this strike would not done.
The U.S. intelligence made a big effort to study. The behavior of Maduro. They knew even their favourite food. This kind of information is very important. To locate the targets. The kidnapping mission itself required very accurate planning and execution. The RQ-4 Reapers. Probably took down the Venezuela air defense, which was blinded by jammers. The role of the individual units is kept secret. Things like at least one RQ-170 “Sentinel” drone took part. In this operation. As the coordinator’s eye.
But probably. Also in a strike role. It is an interesting detail. The thing that this operation shows is that anyone is safe from those strikes. This is one of the first times. When the head of state is captured. This kind of operations causes problems with international laws. The fact is that. Maduro is or was a dictator. International law also applies to dictators. Another thing that this kind of attack causes is the discussions. The discussions are things like safeplaces for criminals and allowance to grow cocaine in the land of some state.
International law gives a chance. The government that sees a criminal. Can ask for the transfer and arrest of the criminal from the state. This is the problem in cases. Their state refuses to make an arrest. The problem with the Venezuela strike is this. Russians attempted the same thing in the Ukraine case. They tried to kidnap and transport President Zelensky to Russia. But when we think about crimes. The problem is that. Every state in the world determines. Crimes themselves. What if Putin asks someday to deliver some people to Russia, by persecuting them for terrorism? Should those people be delivered?
There are states that. Determine that only speech against the leaders is a crime. One of those states is Saudi-Arabia. The newspaperman who spoke against the leaders was tortured and killed in the Sudi-Arabian embassy. International law. Gives protection. To those people who made that thing. This means that. If Saudi-Arabia gives them diplomatic immunity. The case was the Jamal Khashoggi assassination. The place was the Saudi Arabian consulate in Istanbul. That means that those people are free to go. Saudi-Arabia is one of the U.S. allies. But what if those Saudi-Agents kidnap some other country, like Finnish citizen from the streets and do the same thing in their embassy?
Or maybe we want to put the name “Iran” in the place of Saudi-Arabia. Another thing that causes criticism against international law is cases where terrorists use embassies as bases and shoot people from those places. Diplomatic immunity denies operations in those places. And that’s why some governments use diplomatic posts to send weapons. Another problem is that there are states. Those who sell their citizenships and offer diplomatic immunity to people who pay for those things. And also, people like Putin offer safeplaces for other dictators.
About. The Western states' right to select countries where they or we desire to change the government. International law says that a dictatorship is not a reason. For attacking the country. But another question is: what if the government gives support to criminal organizations and terrorists? Of course, human rights violations are ordinary things. In the world. Of Third World states. The fact is that these kinds of operations.
Causes also pressure to make similar operations against the Israeli Prime Minister, Netanyahu. But. Another problem. Are Mr. Putin and Iranian-type governments. The problem with the Iranian government is that it systematically sells weapons to Russia.
Paramilitary, non-governmental organizations, and private military contractors are things. That can keep governments off the dirty work. The guerrillas can also be trained by mercenaries. So, what if President Trump delegates these kinds of actions that he made in Venezuela to private military contractors?
The Iranian government supports terrorism. It supports the paramilitary groups like Hamas and Hezbollah. Those non-governmental actors are the Islamic-style versions of the private military contractors. Private military contractors like “Blackwater” that changed its name to Academi, and Wagner PMC that operates under some other contractor’s name are examples of private military contractors. The model for those actions is simple. “If you want to go to war, hire somebody to fight for you!” and that caused a situation where the Soviets willingly gave training and support to any group that manifested as Socialists. Soviet Special Forces SPETSNAZ gave training and weapons to guerrillas. And still today, Wagner PMC and other Russian “non-governmental” organizations are supporting their allies in Africa and Latin America.
Those contractors are rising in power. Into modern power policy. By using private or non-governmental organizations as tools. The governments can stay away. From military operations. Throughout history, mercenaries and private military contractors have done dirty work for governments. There are many versions of those actors. The French Foreign Legion was the tool that France used to get colonies. That military unit gave a chance to avoid. French victims in those wars. Those mercenaries were prisoners and persona non grata, which meant people at home didn’t want them back. But from the 1950s. Private military corporations are taking bigger roles in conflicts. The Iranian version is the Islamic military groups.
